In a rural area of Clays Kingdom, young Noor's sickly mother passes away, prompting him to act on his dream of becoming a righteous adventurer. As Noor arrives at the royal capital, he is told that he must first acquire skills, but even after months of practice, he has only improved his ability to parry swords. This does not deter Noor, who decides to give the training his all. Fifteen years later, Noor is finally an adventurer, albeit with a condition: he can only take on miscellaneous non-combat tasks. When he stumbles across a minotaur terrorizing the capital, however, he utilizes his parries and limited skills to the maximum, defeating the threat and saving a girl. Unbeknownst to him, she is the princess of Clays Kingdom, Lynneburg! Although reluctant to accept any reward, Noor is gifted a peculiar greatsword, and Lynneburg insists that he become her instructor.
